Metrognome, a startup offering rental practice spaces for musicians and producers across all genres, came to us for help in building their brand from the ground up. They wanted their identity to resonate with their target audience while subtly hinting at the creative nature of their spaces. Inspired by the mythical allure of gnomes, they sought to create a brand that would appeal to insiders without advertising the presence of expensive equipment.
We immersed ourselves in the culture of musicians and producers, drawing inspiration from their aversion to the mainstream. This led to a brand look and voice that reflected the authentic gigging musician. The centerpiece was "Gnomie," a customizable icon that could be tailored to reflect each band's genre, making the space feel personal. The brand mark was designed to be versatile, resonating across all musical styles without confining the identity to one genre—allowing every musician to feel at home.
