CHALLENGE

TENZEN approached joyful to honor their rich family history, transforming their father’s dream of sharing a family-owned natural hot spring with the world. They sought to draw upon Japanese Onsen and Scandinavian spa culture and traditions in bringing this unique offering to life. Located in the Pacific Northwest's Columbia River Gorge near Stevenson, WA, they sought a visual identity that reflected this blend.

SOLUTION

Our team immersed ourselves in both Japanese and Scandinavian spa cultures and design to craft a visual identity, including a wordmark, icon, fonts, colors, and textures. We focused on minimalist design, a neutral and nature-inspired palette, and a strong connection to nature. This harmonious blend delivered an upscale, balanced aesthetic that positioned the property among the region’s premier destinations. The brand influenced not only their web presence but also the guest experience on the spa grounds, from signage to collateral.

RESULTS

In its first few years, TENZEN has experienced great success, consistently selling out each month. Reservations, released on a rolling basis, are quickly booked. This success has allowed for property expansions, set to be completed by winter 2024.
